Shaman, healers, and medicine men - Holger Kalweit

In Shaman, Healers, and Medicine Men the anthropologist Holger Kalweit discusses the characteristics, training, initiations, and lifestyles of Indigenous healers across the world.

This is a must-read for anyone undergoing a kundalini awakening, the term kundalini is not universal but the experience definitely seems to be.

Additionally the lifestyles and healing methods of shaman are useful to grok because awakened individuals can find kindred among shaman of all races.

There is a lot here to unpack. Kalweit is a faithful, respectful, and assiduous commentator and although there has been criticism in recent years for white-male anthropological work I found him to be humble, respectful, and competent to his interviewees even if he didn’t necessarily understand the experience directly.

Highly recommended.
